Ferrari could be running three cars in F1 races as early as next season according to Bernie Eccelstone. Bernie knows that F1 needs at least 18 cars to make it interesting and if teams are going to the wall then the numbers will be made up by the remaining teams competing with 3 cars in the race instead of the normal 2.

"Instead of two it will be three. It will probably be three drivers and three cars and probably happen next year, but we'll have to wait and see."

"We need 18 to 20 cars," added Bernie. "Unfortunately we got one down to 22, so if we lose Arrows, we'll have 20 and if we lose Minardi we will have 18. I think in the end their fortunes will improve through the winter though."
