Ferrari dominated the final session ahead of today's race as Rubens Barrichello went fastest with Michael Schumacher close behind. With the weather playing up Ferrari are looking very strong in the dry at least.

The two Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro drivers topped the time sheet at the end of the 30 minute warm-up session. Rubens Barrichello was quickest in 1’32”671 followed by Michael Schumacher who did a 1’32”987.

There is a big gap in terms of time to the rest of the field. David Coulthard is third for McLaren-Mercedes in 1’34”143, in other words, over one second slower. However, as it is quite possible that different race strategies were being examined, it would be dangerous to jump to conclusions. Kimi Raikkonen is fourth in 1’34”324, while Heinz-Harald Frentzen, whose Arrows team often favour a multi-stop strategy is fifth in 1’34”461. Jordan’s Takuma Sato is a surprising sixth. The Japanese rookie has had a good weekend so far, free of the usual spins and off-track excursions which characterised the first part of his season.

Barrichello completed a total of 12 laps, while Schumacher did two more –7 in his race car and 7 in the T-car. Both drivers are reasonably happy with the balance of the F2002, which were fitted with the new engine cover again. Michael’s best lap was done in his race car. What of the pole man? Strangely, Juan Pablo Montoya only did five laps in his BWM-Williams setting the 17th fastest time.
