Jaguar’s Eddie Irvine reckons that only a harsh penalty by the FIA can stop Ferrari and Michael Schumacher marching to another world title. After his win in Canada Schumacher is 43 points clear and although he says it is not over only the FIA can stop him says Irvine. Swerve is in the same opinion of many fans in that the FIA might use the Austria hearing to keep the title alive in a move similar to what they did to Schumacher in 1994 when driving for the Benetton team.
“This championship is done and dusted," said Irvine. "Where's Ferrari's weakness? Bridgestone are doing good tyres, the car is reliable, Michael is driving well. He is not going to make any mistakes. I just don't see anyone getting close to Ferrari. Where is the threat going to come from? The FIA is the best bet for the rest of the grid. Just look at 1994 it was the only thing that could cost them the championship."
