Michael Schumacher has once again had to respond to more talks about his retirement. It seems to be the fashion for people to assume they can tell Michael to retire, Niki Lauda is the latest. But once again Schumacher sets them straight, he is not bored with F1.

We have had Damon Hill, David Coulthard and now Niki Lauda speaking in the media that they think 5 times world champion Michael Schumacher should retire from F1. Michael must be bored of dealing with these comments about him, but once again he insists he has no plans to retire and that he is not bored with formula one. Maybe these people who think they know the mind of Schumacher will soon get bored with having to hear Michael say this again and again and again?

“The difference between Niki and me is that I’m not bored yet,” Said Michael. “I keep my motivation because there is different opposition every weekend on the track. There are hard races and some easy ones and you never know what to expect.”

Facing the media at the FIA press conference Michael was again asked for his views on the circuit. Schumacher has already said that this is not one of his favourite tracks in terms of a technical challenge but he still likes racing here. But he finds some parts of the circuit very ordinary.

“This circuit has a big name because of the Oval used by the Indy cars. We race on a compromised circuit, but as I have said many times, even if it is not so challenging, that does not mean I do not like it. I think the people who built this track have done a good job. The most interesting part is between Turns 1 and 6. The rest is either very slow, or easily flat out.”

Schumacher has seemingly been playing the team game in recent races in order to secure Rubens Barrichello’s second place, now that position can be secured even if Michael is to win this race and with this prospect he is hoping to be given a better chance of winning the race with the right strategy. Last race at Monza Michael was on the conservative 1 stop race while Rubens won from the aggressive 2 stop.

“Obviously we want to help Rubens take second in the championship and if I win this race then he will be,” said Michael explained.. “But you have to ask Jean Todt what our race strategy will be!”

McLaren are given IRL driver Sarah Fisher a run in their chassis this weekend and Michael has no problems with women in the sport. McLaren driver David Coulthard has recently said that women would be unable to make it in F1, but this is a view that Michael disagrees with.

“I have said before that I don’t have a problem with that idea,” said the German. “There is no reason why women cannot drive a Formula 1 car. We have seen in other sports that they can be as strong as men. I think the reason there are none in F1 is that there are simply not enough of them competing in other formulae to make it through to F1.”
