Luca di Montezemolo is calling for a major shake up in the world of Formula One. The Ferrari President feels that all the fun has gone out of the sport and when he walks down the paddock he can see the difference to the sport from its past.

Ferrari are enjoying the richest period in their glorious history and Luca di Montezemolo has seen many sides to the face of Formula One. Montezemolo feels that recent years has seen the fun being knocked out of the sport and in turn making it far too serious. But with the money teams spend on today’s F1 much higher than ever before then it seems only natural that as the stakes increase then so does the level of seriousness.

“To be honest when I come in the paddock now the pits are different,” said Montezemolo, “There is no fun anymore and I think it's time to think of this.”

Speaking about the proposed breakaway from F1 Montezemolo suggests the sport get back in touch with the human side of things, and he feels that despite the level Ferrari are at just now they still maintain this element to the team. Which is in a way true when you look at the paddock Ferrari seems to be the only team enjoying themselves, whether they would still do so in defeat remains to be seen.

“This is the reason why I am in favour of sitting down and doing something for the future with the teams and the car manufacturers. We want to do things in a different way, and when I say different I mean more fun. We want to recover a little bit the human attitude in F1, which we like to do at Ferrari. I think Ferrari is still a team in which the human element is important.”

Luca’s comments are in a way quite strange as in past seasons that we have been fighting from the back and I think the team had a lot less fun back then. Its easy to enjoy it more when winning and winning in style the way Ferrari are just now. Normally Luca is right in his comments but I cant see where he is going on this one at all? Maybe he wants us all to wear those red wigs and silly hats once more….!
