Giancarlo should race at Hockenheim

Giancarlo Fisichella should be fit for race duty at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim next Sunday. Helen Temple, the teams Public Relations Manager confirmed that Giancarlo needs to undergo a fitness test on Thursday.

Helen said "I spoke to Ginacarlo's manager on Sunday afternoon, when he was feeling much better after a good night's sleep.  His headache had gone and he had just some slight pain in his neck remaining.  Yesterday I had further word from his management that Giancarlo is feeling better.  We very much hope that he will participate in Hockenheim but we will not know until Thursday for sure, as it depends on confirmation by Professor Sid Watkins, the FIA Chief Medical Officer."

I asked if she could elaborate on the accident which put Giancarlo out of the weekends proceedings.  I had noticed something fall away from the car just before his EJ12 left the circuit and hit the tyre wall.

"Gary Anderson, our Director of Race and Test Engineering, believes that Giancarlo hit a high kerb on the previous lap or earlier in the lap of his accident, which weakened or damaged the front wing, and later it came away completely."
