Bernie Supports Cutting Costs

Bernie Ecclestone has supported Eddie Jordan's call to find a way to cut costs in the world of Formula One. Although he has no immediate plan for this, the FIA are looking at budgets to see where cuts can be made.

In an interview for The Sunday Times last weekend, Ecclestone said: "We are taking a good look at the sport. In the end, what we will try to do is cut back a bit on technology and the need to spend money. There are a few things that you could do to a car that would save money. Each vehicle might go a second slower, but nobody would really notice. If all the teams agree to act in the same way it won't make a competitive difference but it will mean a huge reduction on spending."

It will be interesting to see what measures can be introduced. Testing appears to work well for all teams. Perhaps teams should keep a tighter reign on their merchandising efforts and staff costs rather than running the risk of removing the fans enjoyment of a race.
