Sergio Perez, who is currently with the Sauber F1 team impressed Ferrari with his performance as he completed 46 laps in the 2009 car during testing at the Fiorano circuit on Thursday.

Perez is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy along with Jules Bianchi.

Luca Baldisserri, Head of the Ferrari Driver Academy said that Perez displayed characteristics of a much more experienced driver than his age.

"Sergio proved to be aggressive and quick right from the start and was able to adapt to the car in a very short space of time," Baldisserri said. "He is very mature for his age, displaying an understanding that goes beyond the time he has spent driving single seaters."

Perez said that currently he is focussed on his career with Sauber but would definitely want to win a championship with Ferrari in future.

"I think there is room for me to do well where I am and that's my current target," Perez said. "It's impossible to say how things will go and my dream is to become World Champion and it would be nice if it could happen with a team like this one. I have got a lot out of this time with the Ferrari Driver Academy. The work on the simulator, the meetings with the engineers are all things that will help me over the rest of the season and in general in the future."

Meanwhile Stefano Domenicali, Ferrari team principal said that Perez has a lot of potential to improve.

"I think he's having a great season," Domenicali is quoted by AS. "He will be a great race driver in formula one as he has started with a good approach and humility and he can grow a lot."

Well, Sauber is Ferrari powered, so why not a switch? Massa to Sauber and Perez to Ferrari? But the Japanese has outscored him, and the sushi-maker is pretty famous for his crash acts on track.....would be a better option to use against Vettel next year, what say guys? winking smiley

@ Sessions,

Piquet Jr was a &&#$&#& who crashed on purpose to keep his job, and cried foul when he was kicked out.

I would take a Perez or Sushi Maker any day instead of those Piquets.

By the way, "the plan" was a joke winking smiley
