The young and talented Christijan Albers is
a former German Formula 3 champion and has progressed into the upper
reaches of world motorsport having driven in 2005 for the Minardi
Formula 1 Grand Prix team. Christijan achieved impressive results in DTM giving him opportunities to test for the likes of Jordan Grand Prix and Minardi. He gained a race seat with the latter putting in consistent performances throughout the year, picking up race points in less than ideal circumstances at the US Grand Prix. In many ways, 2006 was a year to consign to the dustbin. In terms of racing, the Midland M16 wasn't quite up to the job. The car improved throughout the season as did Christijan's commitment to Formula One. There were no points at the end of the year but Christijan's profile grew with his performances proving that the Dutchman has what it takes to compete at motor sports very top level.
