Who for 2007?

Rumour is rife on the web suggesting that Spyker could swing a surprise by securing the services of a former World Champion for 2007.

Top of the list of prospective drivers for 2007 must be the current driver Tiago Monteiro and what with the seats for next year disappearing rapidly, it's a good bet that the team will be able to pick and choose the final name to complete the line-up.

Lewis Hamilton was one name being bandied about, with suggestion that the team were willing to pay Mclaren $10 million to secure his services. Hamilton has since been announced as Mclaren's number two driver alongside the current World Champion Fernando Alonso. It could however be Mclaren's last World Champion who's about to take a starring role next to Christijan Albers.

Mika Hakkinen retired from Formula One in 2001 having won two World Championships. He has since raced in DTM and earlier this month, tested for Mclaren at Jerez. There's no doubt that Hakkinen would bring a wealth of experience to the team, however can anyone seriously expect the Finn to race against a new generation of Grand Prix drivers?

Our money's with the majority of visitors. Tiago is the sensible option for the team. A measured driver is what this team needs. Constant race finishes and plenty of mileage will help gel the team together and develop the package ready for an all out assault on the 2008 championship.
