A very strong performance for renault with renaults italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella starting the grid on the front row from second position

A strong start to the race weekend with both the Renaults beginning the race in the top three. Giancarlo Fisichella will start from 2nd position and championship leader Fernando Alonso will begin the race from 3rd position on the clean side of the track. Hopefully this will help Alonso get off to a good quick start. Alonso took the lead of the session from Mclaren Juan Pablo Montoya with going 0.3 seconds quicker with a time of 1m27.050s. Then Giancarlo managed to push his team mate off pole position by 0.011s.
