Williams target Renault!

BMW Motorsports boss, Mario Theissen, has targeted the second place on the constructors championship at their goal for this season. Williams BMW primary goal was to win the championship but that now looks unlikely after Ferrari leads them on 70 points after 7 races and with only 11 to go.

So their target has been second on the standings Renault that with 61 points trails Ferrari and leads williams BMW by 25 points.

The Anglo German squad has though to pass the BAR Honda team that is currently third on the championship with 46 points, 10 more than Williams BMW.

"Renault have opened up quite a gap in terms of the points' standings but the season is long enough for us to recover and certainly the team is pushing very hard." Theissen said. "You never know what can happen - we saw something unexpected last year when we had a start that was equally difficult to this year but by the half season we seemed to have the quickest car."

Williams BMW have had difficulties scoring in the last few races. Yesterday, at the European Grand Prix, a shunt between their drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher meant that the German had to retire and the Colombian had to fight from last to finish 8th and score just one point.

Williams BMW, that recently has changed key prsonel on their technical department expects a major upgrade to their car by the French Grand Prix.
