Graham Jarvis scoops his seventh Scott Trial win

MRS Sherco rider Graham Jarvis created history last Saturday when he took his seventh win at the prestigious Scott Trial, beating the record of his mentor Malcolm Rathmell, who gained six wins, and equalling the overall total wins of Sammy Miller - which has stood since 1970.
No mean feat when you realise this event has been running since 1914, with an entry list which has included every top off-road rider in the history of trials. The Scott is easily considered to be the toughest, longest and hardest trial in the world. Seventy miles of tough moorland, with over seventy tough sections, which really tests the ability and skill of the rider and all without stopping!
The Sherco ran like a dream all day, apart from a back wheel puncture before the first petrol stop - which foiled his attempt at fastest time. However, his observation score of 16 was truly astounding, especially when you consider that the second place finisher Steve Colley had an observation score of 44.
Once again The Richmond Motor Club had a full entry list of 200 riders, which included World Enduro Champion David Knight, who managed to win a Silver Scott Spoon, finishing in 24th place on his first attempt at the trial. There were 78 official finishers out of the 200 starters which gives a pretty good indication of the severity of this brilliant event.
A delighted Jarvis commented, Its been another great year, but once again extremely tough. I thought I was in bother when I suffered from the puncture, and knew that I had my work cut out to keep my time scores low. The Richmond Motor Club did a fantastic job once again, and Id like to thank everyone involved - especially all the landowners who let us keep using their land for this brilliant event. It still means I have to come back next year to see if I can beat the all-time Scott record and get my name in the history books!
