Blyton Raceway in Gainsborough staged the fourth round of the British NORA Supermoto series last weekend. Warren Steele bagged a handful of good results, with two race wins, a third and a fourth.
After Leighton Haigh suffered a massive crash in the first Open Race, and was airlifted to hospital with a broken collarbone and numerous stitches, it left Warren to battle it out with KTM Factory rider and ex British Enduro Champion Ady Smith.
Race one proved to be a tough battle between Ady Smith, Andy Mitchell and Warren, with 2.5 seconds separating the three as they crossed the finish line. Ady went on to win race two from Nigel Scott, Andy Mitchell and Warren.
By race three Warren was adamant that he was going to take charge and be dominant. Fighting a tight battle with Ady Smith, Warren and Ady were side by side into nearly every corner. Steele had the slight advantage throughout the race and, although swapping various amounts of paintwork in the race, it was Warren that crossed the finish line 0.2 of a second faster than Smith.
The final race was almost a mirror image of race three. Dicing for the lead, Smith and Steele were fighting it out to the finish. Smith was snapping at the heels of scouser Steele, but was unable to find a way through. As the flag came down before them it was another close finish - 0.2 separating the pair again.
Warren is heading for Peterborough this weekend, for the third round of the ACU National Championships. Warren is currently leading this series by five points from young Husaberg rider Christian Iddon. The pair will no doubt be hammer and tongs this weekend, to gain the vital fifty points which are up for grabs.
The East of England Showground is playing host to this spectacular racing, and it is assured that the racing will be close and intense. Steele, Iddon, Smith, and various other top British races will be demonstrating their skills throughout the weekend.
