Jerez Day 2 – Toyota 2nd and 7th fastest

Jenson Button headed the times with his Honda Concept car, complete with V8 engine. But just behind was the Toyota of Jarno Trulli, with Ralf Schumacher completing the top seven. Neither Toyota made it to the end of the day without its usual testing hiccups though.

Jarno Trulli suffered from a clutch sensor problem in the morning, whilst Ralf Schumacher was hit with a gearbox problem in the afternoon. Both drivers were running different programs; Jarno concentrated on tyre testing for Bridgestone, whilst Ralf worked on suspension settings. Still, Jarno was only a few tenths behind Button’s BAR which is worth celebrating because Toyota were the only team to be testing a fully kited out 2006 spec car.

Just behind Jarno’s Toyota was Anthony Davidson in the other Honda F1 car; the young brit completed a total of 133 laps.

The two McLaren’s of de la Rosa and Paffett continued to use a restricted V10, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

At the back of the eight car test were the Williams Cosworth’s, slit by Toyota’s Ralf Schumacher. Alex Wurz got the better of Nico Rosberg to finish sixth and eighth, but theres along way to go if the team are to challenge for race victories this season.
