BAR glorious at Goodwood

Lucky Strike BAR Honda has always been a huge supporter of the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed, a massively popular showcase set in southern England designed to celebrate past and present eras of motor sport.

As ever a plethora of stars and cars marking more than a 100 years of competition were in action through-out the magical three-day event. Past world champions present included John Surtees, Damon Hill, Alan Jones and Jacques Villeneuve who drove one of his father's race winning Ferraris for the very first time.

Underlining its commitment to the fabulous Festival, BAR was the only F1 team present with all three of its drivers on show. Jenson Button and Takuma Sato wowed the 150,000 fans on Saturday and Sunday with a series of spectacular tyre-shredding runs up the narrow hillclimb course while Anthony Davidson was given the honour of driving one of the turbocharged McLaren-Hondas that was part of this year's special Ayrton Senna tribute.



As well as providing dramatic demo runs, both Jenson and Takuma were kept busy signing hundreds and hundreds of autographs as well as fullfilling a series of media demands. Both race drivers also found time to spend some exclusive time with those members of the Pure Racing Club present at Goodwood.

"It's always a fantastic occasion," enthused Jenson. "There are so many exciting cars here at Goodwood and it's great for the people to be able to get so close to the action. I managed to do three do-nuts on my final run - I got the first two right but made a bit of a mess of the third one! The one drawback is that for every one autograph you sign, you leave hundreds of other fans disappointed."
