Jacques Villeneuve won't buy a drive at Jaguar after all, at least according to a report in Autosport. The ex Lucky Strike BAR Honda star is still without a drive for 2004, and it's looking increasingly likely that he won't be on the grid at Melbourne.
Stories coming from the Canadian media, and reported here, said that Villeneuve's manager, Craig Pollock, was working with Slam Management trying to raise $5 million in order to secure the second seat at Jaguar, but with little success.
However, a spokesperson for Villeneuve told Autosport that "Jacques has no interest in buying a ride in Formula 1. Therefore, the stories in the Canadian media are incorrect."
Villeneuve, who's estimated to have made some $90 million from his years at BAR, could still find a way into F1 - we think there'll still be more than $5 million left...
