MercedesAMG F1 Monza 2013 (6.-8.9.2013)

By Timba7
August 26 2013

The track is located at Italy near the city of Milan. Traditional track which is the fastest of all F1 GPs. More than 70 % of the lap is full throttle. And because of that engine must be really strong. Mercedes has strong engine which is clearly important for the weekend.Hamilton and Rosberg got the max out of SPA with great drive. But Monza is Ferraris home ground and Alonso is the one to beat. Good luck to Mercedes team!!!! Little more pace to W04 would do miracles. Here is the track layout:

monza 2

Some moments:

Montoya 2005 top speed: 372 km/h

In the past Monza had oval section. Which was changed after 1961 deadly accident.

-------------

Lap record: 1.21,046 (Rubens Barrichello, Ferrari, 2004)

SPA felt like losing. But still Hammi is now 3rd in WDC.
Althought Vettel needs to have few DNFs but it is still possible.

Alonso was fast. And at Monza Ferrari is always fast. So we need to get some more speed for out drivers to work with for Monza.

Kimi is now dropped from 2nd to 4th. Alonso now back to 2nd spot at the WDC rank.

We also got more WCC points than Lotus and Ferrari so we are now in good position at the WCC rank!!

Bring it on!!

I'm expecting another spa: qwf should be good (unless they mess up the long gear), race: fallback

Hope to be wrong and we get a strong double (front row and race) and a bad race for the german kid, lol

Yep Monza might be same kind for us. But they thought that something went wrong with setup. So we might get little more out of the package.

I have thought about the coming Monza race. If Merc was with rain setup at SPA. And ofcourse Lotus had to compromise everything due to Kimis visir brake cooling and Crashiens 1 stop strategy.

Monza might be 4 team battle.

And Macca has made statement at Autosport that they will be pushing for podiums in coming races.

WOW. If its dry. It might turn out to be great battle.

Lets spice it up with kamikaze Perez and Maldo. smiling smiley

Mercedes revises its low-drag aero package for Monza after Spa form
By Jonathan Noble Tuesday, September 3rd 2013, 10:37 GMT

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes, Belgian GP 2013, Spa

Mercedes will run with a revised version of its low-drag package at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix as it bids to make up for its disappointing race pace in Belgium.

The Brackley-based team had hoped to take the fight to Red Bull at Spa, but Lewis Hamilton struggled to find a good set-up with the car throughout the weekend and finished third.

With Monza also demanding the kind of low-drag performance that was required for Spa, Mercedes has been working hard on implementing solutions that it hopes will produce a step forward in form for Italy.

Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff said: "In Monza, we will use a refined version of the low-drag package introduced at Spa.

"We hope to see an improvement in race pace after the lessons we learned over the race weekend in Belgium."

Team principal Ross Brawn revealed after Belgium that the outfit had been slightly baffled as to why its pace was lacking.

"I don't think we quite got the car right," he said. "We were there or thereabouts but it didn't feel quite as sharp as we have had the last few races.

"Whether that was because of the set-up philosophy, or some of the changes we made, we will have to go back through.

"The aero package certainly did what it should do, but we were not very good in sector one, and our performance through Eau Rouge was poor.

"Our car had good grip in the [other] fast corners though, which was slightly odd."

@Official

Monza preview – Nico: “The last European race of the season always has a special atmosphere”

“Monza is always one of my favourite races” says Nico ahead of this weekend’s race. “I love driving the track with its unique high-speed and low-downforce layout.

The last European race of the season always has a special atmosphere and the Italian fans are so passionate about Formula One.
It's really cool for me that I speak Italian and can communicate easily with the fans in and around the circuit.

To go to Monza with the feeling that we have a quick car is fantastic and I hope we will achieve another strong team result as we did in Belgium. We have to keep pushing now and I know everyone is working really hard at the factories to do just that.”

------------------------------

Monza preview – Lewis: “It really feels like you are going back to Formula One's roots when you race there”

For Lewis, Monza is a “truly amazing circuit and it's a great feeling to drive at our top speeds of the year there. The layout and atmosphere of Monza are very special and it really feels like you are going back to Formula One's roots when you race there.

The car has a completely different aerodynamic package to anywhere else on the calendar with really low downforce to make the most of the four long straights. My win in Italy last year was the first of my career at this circuit and it was a great feeling.

We had a strong weekend in Belgium with a good team result and that's what we need to keeping doing in the second half of the season.”

---------------------------

Drivers seem to be positive. Bring it on!!

IF Vettel has a bad race here, we're back in contention BUT we need a strong finish from BOTH drivers in front of Vettel and a merc with the knife razorsharp between its teeth from Singapore onwards (so after a sucessful Monza).

So the sunday race didnt help us at all.

I am pretty sure the focus is now 100% for 2014.

Well anyways. Nice driving still from our drivers!

Hammi was lightning fast at the end. That DRS zone was made for his car. Half lap, and he would had Crashien in the bag.

Lets just enjoy the rest of the season.

So far this season has been best ever for Mercs new team!!
