King Lewis of Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton. Do the ITV-F1 crew know any other words? Seriously, I’m happy for him and I guess when Jenson was their darling they were like it when he finished highly. It’s great for British motorsport and I saw Lewis was even on the front page of some tabloids on Monday morning.

Finishing highly however is something Jenson did not do on Sunday. Personally, I feel both Rubens and Jenson got the very best out of the car and didn't do too badly with their own respective problems – Rubens starting from the pitlane and Jenson being driven into by someone who’s name I can’t be bothered to try to remember.

You have to love the way Honda began their post-race press release: 'Both RA107s ran faultlessly in the Malaysian GP, giving the team its second two-car finish of the year.'

How superb.

You know a team isn't doing very well if their press release begins like that. The team should be aiming for consistent wins by now – not consistent finishes! Realistically that’s not going to happen for a little while, and it doesn't help having another race the following weekend. At least then the flyaway races will be done with and the team can start thinking about improving the car in Europe…

…or even getting that reported B-spec car that's rumoured to be being built out on track… but it's unlike me to play on rumours…

I do think I've solved the problem of the RA107, though (other than the fact that the team's senior technical director being a motorcycle and engine man). You see, I was walking around Tesco earlier buying some free-range large eggs with my trolley when I realised – the RA107 seems to share the same aerodynamic parts as the trolley. I should try and keep quiet about this though, because it may start up another Toro Rosso/Super Aguri-esque customer car row.

Both drivers finished within a second of each other which makes me think – with such an evenly matched team, and a comparatively rapid trolley, perhaps they would make a storming team on Supermarket Sweep.

One thing Honda fans everywhere will be rejoicing over is the fact that B-team Super Aguri's cars finished behind Jens and Rubens. The opposite would have happened for the other Japanese team, with the Toyota-powered Williams of Nico Rosberg set to finish ahead of both Toyotas, and thus propel this British team ahead of Toyota points-wise.

This didn't happen however, I'm told Ralf Schumacher, the self-confessed 'best German in F1' was overjoyed at Rosberg not finishing ahead of him, as in the last race in Australia Nick Heidfeld and Nico Rosberg both finished ahead of him and it was set to happen here… and that would not have been very confirmative of his bulshy statement, would it?

There is another German in F1, apparently. He’s just not all that important.

Away from Honda, it was nice to see that Heikki Kovalainen bothered to turn up today and didn’t send along his brother like Flav pointed out last week. I see Felipe Massa sent his along though, or maybe it was just a crap performance? I've always been very defensive of his driving but that was poor in the race.

But at least Ferrari fans can be happy that their car has no problems. We have to just keep the faith in Honda as a corporation and remember that we have two very capable drivers. It's argued teams like Honda are just in F1 to sell more road cars and don't actually care about success. To that I'd ask what motorsport series Honda has entered and hasn't dominated at some time through sheer persistence…

Surely Honda will get it right some time, I'd urge you all – keep the faith, it will be rewarded…

…especially if Honda do manage to attract Ross Brawn… (sorry, yet another rumour!)
