Why are you on Sportnetwork?

All the difference in the world. We gather here because of who we are. We come here to meet others who share the same passion. We come here to debate and celebrate a sport that we all love nearly as much as life itself.

So why is it that a person that has this love, this same passion wish to leave this place?

Rudeness. Insults. Uglyness.

That's to name but a few.

I do not write this as any type of warning. Nor do I write this as a type of "I have the power" statement. I write this because of one person. One person that has been a fair, good, honest and respectable person. A person that noone can find any fault, insult, inflamatory remark or anything of that nature in.

This person almost left us. Why?

Have we become so blind in our loves and passions that we've forgotten honor and respect? Have we become so shallow in the love of our respective teams that we give no respect to those who love other teams? Have we regressed into barbarism?

Have we?

I think that people take Sportsnetwork for granted these days. They don't remember the old days at all...where we were at the mercy of the powers that be...where noone really cared about anything but site hits...where it didn't matter how much you loved the sport, it was about control.

John has set up for us a place like no other. He gives us all (the admins) free reign to run it as we see fit. He stands outside of the gate, and lets us tend our own flock...all for free. FREE folks.

All we have to do is act half way civilized, and it goes on forever.

It's not working.

I nearly lost one of my best this week. Anyone who reads this knows of whom I speak. If the person of whom I speak reads this, then know this: This is for you...but not just you. It's for everyone like you that makes this place so exciting that I just can't wait to be able to log on to find out what's been said.

I have a baby girl, a wife, a job, and much more (not that I need it) that keeps me VERY busy. It's the few moments I get to come here each day that make me feel very good. It's a lonely business being an F1 fan in the United States...but it's not just that. It's the people that I've never met...that have become my friends...that I feel as though I've known for a thousand years...that I would have NO problem inviting into my house...that I wouldn't think twice about helping in any way I could...

THAT is what this place...this fantastic place that we all take for granted every single day...THAT is what this place is about.

It's not just F1. It's called SPORTnetwork for a reason.

So...be a sport. A good one. Let's talk about our sport. Save the hate and insults for your yahoo and excite chat...which is all either one of them is worth to begin with.
