Hamilton Pushing For Race Wins

After the 22 year olds disappointing home grand prix, has vowed not to adapt a defensive strategy, as the Britain hopes to become formula one's first ever rookie world drivers champion. Lewis currently leads the formula one standings, 12 points ahead of Spanish team mate Fernando Alonso, and 18 points ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen.

"Of course we have to bear in mind that we want to finish every race but that doesn´t mean that we slack off," Hamilton said at the Nurburgring.

"We are going to keep on pushing hard to beat everyone. That is how we have been all season. The whole team is pushing extremely hard back at the factory to improve the car and I am working hard at my training to improve my own game. Yes, we need the points, but we also want to win. It´s a balance."

The Nurburgring is has been one of Lewis's favorites, as last year in GP2, the 22 year old won his first double GP2 win. Lewis is feeling additionaly confident as he enjoyed his Spa test, in which, his McLaren team brought several new parts to try and beat main rivals Ferrari on Mercedes home ground.

"The Spa test went well for me," he said. "We got there and the car felt better than it has all season so I was very, very happy." Hamilton added.

Practice for the European grand prix will begin tomorrow morning at 08:00 GMT.
