Barcelona Day 4: Pedro Finishes The Test Second

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team completed their test at the Barcelona circuit on a high, Pedro De La Rosa finishing the Spanish test second 0.2 seconds behind leader David Coulthard.

Pedro managed to complete a modest 58 laps, which is around one race distance which should please the McLaren team, as main rivals Ferrari suffered an engine failure on Felipe Massa’s car.

Things don’t look too good for McLaren’s bridge wing, the team don’t look to be pleased with it, however the car looks very quick, so it remains to be seen whether the team will decide to race the wing, no more testing is scheduled for the weeks approaching the race.

Sadly- for David Coulthard fans- his lap was done on fresh tyres, and low fuel. We don’t know what Pedro’s time was done on, but we can only speculate that it was on an aero run. The McLaren featured smaller sidepods, interestingly, the sidepods McLaren ran yesterday, were smaller than the Ferrari’s sidepods, do McLaren have an aero advantage?

Double world champion Fernando Alonso was scheduled to test on Thursday, he opted not to and gave testing duties to test driver Pedro De La Rosa.
