Hamilton Triumphs To P2, while Alonso gets P4

Britain’s Lewis Hamilton has finished his third qualifying session in 2nd position while team mate Alonso struggles, with either handling issues or the fact he’s simply carrying more fuel.

The session saw Fernando losing time to the younger Hamilton in just about every sector, this wasn’t just in the third session, it was in all three. Fernando shouldn’t be that worried though, as he looks the stronger of the two in the race.

As long as the team gets a good start, they may be able to demolish the Ferrari’s going into turn one, where in previous years there has been accidents, and this year could be no exception.

It became clear to the McLaren team that Ferrari were going to go aggressive on their fuel strategy, McLaren responded by sending Lewis out to attack the Brazilian, and it certainly looked like he did a good job, pushing both himself and Massa to the limit.

Meanwhile Fernando Alonso was left behind Kimi Räikkönen as they line up on the grid, both drivers looking like they were running slightly more fuel than their faster team mates.

Plumes of blue smoke poured out of the back of Lewis’s car, which could be either something to do with the oil being overfilled, the car scraping on the surface of the circuit, it’s most likely to be engine, but why it didn’t persist we don’t know. Fingers crossed, Lewis should be ok for the race.

Full qualifying times will be shown below.
