Williams supports new wing

WilliamsF1 team boss Sir Frank Williams has indicated that he is prepared to support the new rear design put forward by the FIA, if it assists in allowing more overtaking in Formula One.

Williams did not know what to make of the wing at first feeling that is was strange but if by removing the middle section of the wing it would produce an airflow at the back of the car that would allow overtaking he would support the design. The design is currently the subject of a Technical group whose aim is to test the new design.

A press release from WilliamsF1 stated: "Accordingly, Williams is prepared to support this concept."

Sir Frank said: "When I saw it, I thought: what is this supposed to be? But if it really helps to make overtaking easier then it's good for formula one."
