French GP Warm-up

The Sunday morning warm-up would see both BMW WilliamsF1 drivers way down the order, with Ralf Schumacher twelfth and Montoya fourteenth. From the times set little can be drawn from these times. During the session there were no incidents but a number of drivers continued to slide on the slippery circuit, including Ralf Schumacher.

Neither WilliamsF1 driver did many laps during the session, with Montoya completing only eighth. From that one can conclude that the team is well prepared for the race in terms of strategy.

Jordan driver Giancarlo Fisichella will not be taking part in the race and it was hoped that he could be replaced by Arrows driver Frentzen, who had failed to qualify, but this was not to be.

Of more concern to the WilliamsF1 team was the return of both the Ferrari drivers to the top of the times. Michael Schumacher would set the fastest time with a lap of 1m:14.174. Seven tenths behind is team-mate Barrichello. These two drivers were the only ones to brake into the 1m:14 bracket.

McLaren's David Coulthard was the first man out on track this morning, followed by Kimi Raikkonen but the McLaren duo were off the pace, finishing the session seventh and ninth, with Kimi fastest.

Both Sauber drivers were high up the times with Massa fourth and Heidfeld fifth. Also showing some encouraging speed were the Renault pair of Trulli, third, and Button sixth. Jaguar's Eddie Irvine’s also showed some encouraging pace ending up eighth quickest. Team-mate Pedro de la Rosa was thirteenth.

Weather was fine for the session and it is expected to heat up for the race.
