Webber criticises Pizzonia

In an interview for Gazzetta dello Sport WilliamsF1 driver Mark Webber has come out and publicly criticised Antonio Pizzonia for the claims that Antonio made in regard to Mark been given preferential treatment when they both were drivers at Jaguar.

This war of words between the pair has been going on for sometime but now takes on a more significance given that there is a strong chance that the pair will be driving together for the WilliamsF1 team in 2005. Previously Pizzonia had claimed that he was treated badly while at Jaguar. These claims are something that Webber challenges.

In the interview Webber said: "He knows he's been telling lies. He says his car was different from mine? It's all bullshit. But if he really thinks so, then he's a loser. The truth is that Antonio was fast in testing, but couldn't do as well in the races.

"This year, when he took over from Gene on Ralf Schumacher's Williams, he did well, but he didn't have too much pressure on him because he had nothing to lose. Things change when you are the race driver: in this case the responsibilities are much bigger. Especially if you're at the wheel of a Williams."

Webber also indicated that he would have preferred to have worked alongside Jenson Button in 2005, but this is not to be with Button staying at BAR.

Webber added: "In my opinion it's a shame, because Jenson at BAR demonstrated to be a great professional who worked nicely.

"I'll end up with a lot more pressure on me. With Button, on the other hand, we could have better shared the development work, which will be very heavy. I know he would have been a tough customer, but I'm not overjoyed because in life sooner or later you are bound to find a tough rival on your path.

"Button, in this occasion, would have been the perfect reference point."

If Pizzonia is selected to move from his current testing role to that of a fulltime driver for the WilliamsF1 team will we see a continuation of this war of words between the pair. It may be a difficult task for WilliamsF1 management to smooth things out between the pair.
