| For the
BMW WilliamsF1 team the second day of testing at Jerez would see Nick
Heidfeld join Mark Webber, with the German the focus of the team as he tries
to convince them that he should join Webber as a driver for teh team in
2005. But the variable weather conditions, rain falling through out the day, would make the going difficult. For Heidfeld his day would see him finish a considerable margin behind Mark after setting a best lap time of 1m:22.728, after completing one hundred and one laps. Nick focused on evaluating the traction control system. For Mark his best lap time was a 1m:20.163 minutes, completing one hundred and six laps. WilliamsF1 Technical Director Sam Michael commented on the days testing: "Even though the weather was mainly wet today, we completed a combined total of 917kms on the two FW26C interim cars, which is a good achievement at such an early stage with the new rear end. Mark worked on wet tyre testing for Michelin, electronics and reliability running. He was joined today by Nick Heidfeld who did a great job in the other car and also did some work on traction control. Tomorrow, Antonio is driving again with Nick." Thursday will see Antonio Pizzonia join Nick Heidfeld in testing. |
