Button misguided

Despite efforts by the BMW WilliamsF1 team Jenson Button failed in his attempt to move to the WilliamsF1 team in 2005. But now Jenson has come out admitting that his attempt to join his former team was "misguided".

In an interview for the Guardian newspaper Button spoke of how he got it wrong in his attempt to join WilliamsF1. Button said: "Yes, I did make some mistakes."

He added: "In my reasoning for moving I don't think I made a mistake but in not talking to David ( Richards ) myself, I was misguided.

"I've never been in this situation before, I don't know the legal side of things, so I just had to listen to what people had to say. I did that, and I thought it was the correct thing to do, but obviously it wasn't."

As for the whole exercise Button expressed his relief that it was over.

Button said: "It's been very tiring...I'm staying with BAR next year and now that the decision has been made I'm actually very happy."

Button then went on to comment on Honda's decision to invest in the BAR team, purchasing a 45% stake in the team.

He added: "Honda having a stake in the team is the best thing for BAR,. It's huge for everyone working here. It makes us very excited about the coming years."

Based on these comments don't expect to see Jenson return to the WilliamsF1 team for some time if at all.
