Ralf to miss French GP?

In comments on his personal website Ralf Schumacher indicated that it was very likely that he would miss the French Grand Prix as he was still suffering from considerable pain in his back.

Ralf SchumacherRalf said: "I feel as if I've done two rounds with Muhammad Ali. But I don't want there to be any misunderstanding. I'm not in shock, I don't have psychological problems. I just have concussion."

As for the French Grand Prix Ralf added: "At the moment I don't think so. The important thing now is that I rest. In principle I should be behind the wheel as soon as possible.

"But the example of my accident during testing in September showed that you can't take anything for granted. My priority is to get fit again."

If Ralf was to miss the French GP there would also be a question mark hanging over his participation in the British Grand Prix which takes place the weekend after the French round.

The speculation as to who will replace Ralf for the French Grand Prix has already started with WilliamsF1 test drivers Marc Gene and Antonio Pizzonia at the top of the list. In what is wild speculation even Jacques Villeneuve has been given a chance to drive for the team. An announcement from the team is expected soon.

As for the difficulties that the WilliamsF1 team has had to endure in the last two races WilliamsF1 Technical Director Sam Michael said in an interview for the British Daily Telegraph: "We didn't score any points for two races in a row. That puts a lot of pressure on me. It's all down to me, but Formula One has a tendency to throw everything at you when you are down and the one thing you can't do is cave in.

"The key thing for the team now is morale and the important thing is that we keep everybody's heads up and we will come out the other side. That's the way it is in this business."
