| On a day
that would see the track lap record lowered again the BMW WilliamsF1 team
completed their fourth day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya. The team
would have three drivers present, with Ralf and Juan Pablo testing the new
FW26 and Marc gene using the 2003 FW25.
Ralf would continue to focus
on various setups for the FW26. In the afternoon he would switch to tyre
testing for Michelin. Schumacher continued working on mechanical set ups for
the WilliamsF1 BMW FW26 before switching to tyre evaluations in the
afternoon. Ralf would complete sixty three, setting a fastest time of
1m:15.736. WilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer Sam Michael commented on the days testing: “Today Juan Pablo successfully performed a race simulation distance while Ralf spent the day working on mechanical set up. Marc drove the FW25A in the afternoon to work on driveability items - all of which he completed successfully. Tomorrow, Juan Pablo and Marc will be running the FW26s while Nico Rosberg will return to the cockpit of the FW25A.” As for the other teams it
would be BAR's Jenson Button who would be the first driver to lap the
circuit in less than one minute and 15 seconds when he broke the track
record. His time of 1:14.607 was more than four tenths quicker than the
previous time set by Ralf Schumacher. |
