| The BMW
WilliamsF1 Team completed the final day of their seven day test at Jerez
with Ralf Schumacher setting the fastest time on a day that saw the track
artificially flooded to allow for Michelin tyre testing.
The
start of the day was again delayed by fog but the conditions would improve
to allow the cars to take to the track. Only four drivers were on the track,
all been from Michelin supplied teams.
Ralf Schumacher would continue testing the new FW26, finishing fastest.
Ralf would complete sixty three
laps with a best time of 1m:26.968.
Marc Gené was also present again using the FW25B. He would complete seventy
seven laps, with a best time of 1m:29.116.
WilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer Sam Michael said: “Today we finished our
first test session of the year at Jerez. Ralf and Marc successfully
completed a wet tyre test for Michelin with Ralf driving the FW26 and Marc
the FW24. Over the course of the seven days, all three drivers have collated
some valuable data and recorded some impressive mileage. We’re now looking
forward to the test at Barcelona next week where we hope to make further
improvements.”
The BMW WilliamsF1 team will resume testing next Monday
at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona. |
