| For Juan
Pablo Montoya the announcement that he will be moving to the McLaren team
has done little to lessen his focus on winning the drivers championship in
2004, while he is with the BMW WilliamsF1 team.
In an interview for Gazzetta dello Sport Juan Pablo said: "The decision to change teams wasn't dictated by a falling out with Williams. As soon as I had signed with McLaren I went and told Frank. I am happy here at Williams
and for this reason I will honour to the letter my contract, driving one
more year with them. An offer was made to me, I spoke to Ron Dennis and the
Mercedes directors and then I made my decision. The decision to make the
deal public was taken by Ron Dennis and I don't believe it will do me any
damage. Williams had been warned well ahead of time of my decision. |

Since
the announcement Juan Pablo has insisted that this move in no way indicates
that he has problems with the WilliamsF1 team. According to Juan Pablo his
decision was based on McLaren's ability to allow him to challenge for the
championship rather than any financial consideration, even though it is
reported that he will earn considerably more at McLaren than at WilliamsF1..
