| In order
to clear up the rumours regarding a move to McLaren in 2004 BMW WilliamsF1
driver Juan Pablo Montoya confirmed that he will be staying with the team in
2004.
Montoya
said: "I’ll be racing for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in 2004. I’ve got a
contract with the team running to the end of 2004.”
As for a move to McLaren in
2005 Juan Pablo did say that as of the end of the 2004 season he will look
at all his options and make a decision then.
Juan Pablo added: “I’m a free agent for 2005. And I have to take a close
look at all options I’ve got before deciding what will be the best for me
and my career. Only then I will know if I will stay with the BMW WilliamsF1
Team or if it will be better to move.”
But like many other drivers Juan Pablo did admit that he has held talks with
other teams. But for a driver nearing the end of his contract this would be
quite normal.
Juan Pablo explained: “Quite obviously I have been in talks with other
teams, and I think that these negotiations may have been the reason for all
the rumours that have been circulating recently.”
But one person who would not let Juan Pablo leave the WilliamsF1 team prior
to the end of his contract was Patrick Head, WilliamsF1’s Technical
Director. In an interview in the German magazine ‘Sport Bild’ Head
made it clear that he would not let him go.
Head said: "Juan Pablo will
definitely be racing for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in 2004.“ |
