Williams brings upgrades to Austria

The 2017 Austrian Grand Prix would see the Williams Martini team arrive with a variety of upgrades to their 2017 FW40. Recent races has seen an improvement from the FW40, with Lance Stroll securing a third place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

But despite this they have dropped down the constructors championship to now be well behind their main rivals Force India. In order to try and close this gap the Williams team has brought these upgrades to Austria.

A lot of the upgrades that are present are in line with what other teams have been doing but with Williams own variation on them. The upgrades include a new front wing pillar, changes at the side of the car aimed at producing an improved air flow in that area. The bargeboards and side pods have also been modified and feature the 'finger' blades. This is along the lines of what Mercedes have been doing on their 2017 car.

Stroll commented on these developments by saying that he hoped that they will perform as well on track as they have in the wind tunnel. "It should be positive," he said.

"On paper, it is obviously positive and then when you get out there and see what it does, you really find out how it is.

"So hopefully it is a good step in the right direction. That is what we are all aiming for."
