Singapore GP: Williams Martini drivers outside top ten

The second Friday practice session for the 2015 Singapore GP would see both Williams Martini drivers finish outside the top ten. In a reversal of the previous session Felipe Massa would finish ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas with the pair 11th and 17th. A less than encouraginbg start to the weekend with the FW37 again showing that is struggles on this type of circuit.

Team Summary:
In the opening Friday practice the Williams Martini drivers would pit ending their session finishing in sixth and seventeenth. Now it was the second Friday practice as Kvyat set a 1m:49.307 to go early quickest. The session would be red flagged with Manor's Steven stopped at Turn eleven having made a left rear impact with the barrier after losing the rear end of his car under braking. His team-mate Rossi was still in the pits as they continued to work on repairing his car. With the restart of the session it would be Valtteri out first followed by Felipe both running on the soft tyre.

Ricciardo would go quickest with a 1m:48.103 with Rosberg second and Hamilton third. Raikkonen was now fastest with a 1m:47.659. After their first timed laps the Williams drivers were eighth and thirteenth. As the session progressed this would become twelfth and fifteenth. Kvyat was now second followed by Ricciardo. The first to come out on the option super soft tyre was Raikkonen. Hamilton would go quickest with a 1m:47.633 with Raikkonen on a very quick lap on the option tyre. He would set a 1m:46.181 to be 1.452 seconds ahead of Hamilton. More drivers were coming out on the option tyre including Vettel and Rosberg. Vettel would go second followed by Hulkenberg.

Hamilton would go second with a 1m:46.479 followed by Vettel, Kvyat, Rosberg, and Hulkenberg sixth. Ricciardo would move up to second seeing Hamilton third. Kvyat would go fastest with a 1m:46.142 from Raikkonen and Ricciardo. With thirty five minutes left in the session the Williams pair were eleventh and sixteenth. It was looking like a difficult time for the Williams team. Drivers started to return to the track on the soft tyre while there were several doing longer runs on the option tyres. Valtteri and Felipe were both out setting times in the 1m:51s and 1m:52s. Ten minutes remaining and both Felipe and Valtteri continued their runs on the option and prime tyres running opposite setups trying to learn as much as possible from the session.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would follow Valtteri out for his first run in the second session. Felipe would set a 1m:49.768 to be thirteenth someway of the pace of his team-mate. This would become fourteenth as he continued out on the track. Felipe would also pit with just over an hour remaining. Felipe would follow Valtteri out also on the super soft tyre. Felipe would complete his first quick lap on the option tyre and would finish with a 1m:47.684 to be ninth and for the first time ahead of his team-mate. He would drop to tenth and would pit. Felipe would return to the track still on the option tyre. As the laps added his lap times were in the 1m:54s. Felipe had completed twelve laps on the option tyre as the session drew to a close. With the end of the session Felipe would complete twenty laps on the option tyre.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would come out for his first run after the session restarted after a red flag. Valtteri's first lap would see him set a 1m:49.210 to be fifth. He would drop to sixth and then eighth with fifteen minutes completed. Valtteri would drop to tenth now behind Grosjean. Valtteri would pit with just over twenty minutes completed. Valtteri would return with fifty five minutes remaining. He would come out on the option tyre and would start his quick lap. Personal bests in the first two sectors finishing with a 1m:48.158 to be only eleventh. He would drop to thirteenth 0.434 behind team-mate Felipe. Valtteri would also pit with forty three minutes remaining. Valtteri had dropped to sixteenth with thirty eight minutes remaining. Valtteri would also come out on used option tyres. But Valtteri would pit taking on a set of the used soft tyres for his next run. He would complete seventeen laps on the soft tyre with the end of the session.
