Singapore GP: Bottas 6th from Williams Martini in FP1

The opening Friday practice for the 2015 Singapore GP would see Williams Martini driver Valtteri Bottas finish in an encouraging 6th. Team-mate Felipe Massa was down the order finishing in 17th. Felipe would be involved in testing new parts for the car including an upgraded front wing. Both drivers would spend the middle part of the session in their pits but despite this they would both complete close to twenty laps.

Team Summary:
The Williams team would have the use of the supersoft and super soft tyres for the Singapore weekend. Both drivers would complete single installation laps with both drivers on the soft tyre. Both drivers would be required to hand back their first set of soft tyres after the first thirty minutes. As times started to appear the early quickest was Rosberg with a 1m:49.473. He would improve with a 1m:49.184, followed by Vettel and Hulkenberg. Hamilton was now second but Ricciardo would take this spot with the first thirty minutes coming to an end. Valtteri and Felipe were currently eighth and sixteenth.

With the return of drivers Rosberg would set a 1m:48.004 to remain quickest. More drivers were out with Valtteri now tenth with forty two minutes remaining. Hamilton was now second with a 1m:48.314. Vettel and Raikkonen were now third and fourth. Both Williams drivers continued to remain in their pits with thirty five minutes remaining. Rosberg had improved his quickest time with a 1m:47.995. Both Williams drivers returned to the track on new soft tyres. After their first laps Valtteri and Felipe were seventh and sixteenth, considerable margins behind the quickest times. Valtteri would move up to sixth as both Williams drivers continued to put in further laps.

The session would be red flagged when Rossi in the Manor crashed doing a lot of damage to the right of the car at Turn eighteen. The back f his car had hit first seeing the front turned into the barrier. Both Williams drivers would pit ending their session finishing in sixth and seventeenth.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would be the first out onto the Singapore track for his installation lap. Felipe would return for his first timed laps. Felipe had set a slow 1m:57.606 to be down in seventeenth. He would improve with a 1m:53.059 to be sixteenth. Felipe would continue to put in laps setting a 1m:52.417 still sixteenth. Felipe would also pit looking to swap over his tyres. Felipe would drop to seventeenth still in his pit. There was a lot of work being done on the rear of his car. Felipe would follow Valtteri back out but his first time would see him set a slow 1m:51.050 to be down the order in sixteenth. A 1m:51.035 from Felipe. Felipe would ask if they wanted to change his front wing. The team would tell him to pit to do the change. Felipe would complete ten laps prior to pitting.

Valtteri Bottas:
After his installation lap Valtteri would come back out for his first timed laps. His first time was a 1m:51.210 to be sixth, dropping to eighth. A 1m:51.127 from Valtteri still in eighth. Valtteri would pit after six laps. While he waited in his pit Valtteri had dropped to eleventh. With just over twenty five minutes remaining Valtteri would return to the track. His first lap was a 1m:49.913 to be seventh. A 1m:49.380 from Valtteri would see him improve to be sixth. He would pit after seven laps. He would quickly return for another run completing a total of eleven laps in this second run.
