Williams in collaboration with Sainsbury’s
By Williams F1 Team
November 12 2010
Formula One-inspired technologies being developed at the Williams Technology Centre (WTC) in Qatar will be used to help the Sainsbury's supermarket group to increase its energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The partnership will also see advanced vehicle simulator technology used to support the training and development of Sainsbury’s drivers to enhance both energy efficiency and safety.

Having looked at this story on a couple websites it does look like a big contract with a lot of money involved, but isn't williams hybrid power a seperate company from Williams f1? So will the F1 team see any of the money from the contract?

I would think that all the money is falling under the same umbrella of Williams F1. I am happy to see Williams moving into other ventures outside F1.

Very interesting read.
It looks like this energy-recovery technology has potential in all sorts of applications. If you start looking at all kinds of manufacturing and distribution processes, it's a vast market.
The car companies have only really been looking at vehicle applications (presumably why they did not go the flywheel route) so this shows good creative thinking by Williams in an area where it has a lead.

Lets hope they dont become a title sponsor and want an orange car, although we could do with the money I dont think I could stomach an orange livery, I hated the 07 Spyker.

Obviously, you have never lived in Holland.
Orange is their favourite colour and, whenever the Dutch football team is playing in the World Cup, even cats and babies are painted orange.
I agree, the Spyker was gross, but the Arrows cars sponsored by Orange Telecom were slightly more acceptable.
It is a graphic designer's problem. Orange is an accent colour, not a bucket of splosh.

Right now I would go with any colour car just to make sure that the F1 team has a budget big enough to allow the team to compete on an equal basis with the likes of Red Bull etc.

I can't imagine SFW would change his plain blue jumper for an orange one, so I expect our livery will remain the same.
(Plus Im sure PH would throw an absolute fit being asked to look like a bollard)
