FW29 not ready for podium

With the AT&T Williams team nearing the end of their pre-season testing for team driver Alex Wurz, despite the fact that the test results have been positive for the team, the new FW29 is not ready to achieve a podium finish

In an interview for the Austrian press agency 'APA' Wurz said: "At the moment I do not see us so strong that we can be on the podium without having some luck." It would be more realistic to look at scoring some early season points.

He added: "McLaren, BMW, Ferrari and Renault are all quicker than we are.

"If all those guys are reliable then we will have a tough fight against Honda and Toyota for points."

As for team-mate Nico he was quoted by Auto Bild as saying that the FW29 was "much, much better" than the 2006 FW28.

He added: "Some of the characteristics (of the car) are the same as the other one, and I had hoped that they might be different." Like Alex he felt that points was a more likely result. He said: "McLaren and Ferrari are simply too far away, but to be consistently in the points is possible for us."
