Hungary GP Saturday 2nd Practice

As the teams prepared for this afternoon's qualifying the second Saturday practice would see an improvement for both BM<W Williamsf1 drivers with Juan Pablo finishing in fourth and Ralf eighth. Even with their faster times both drivers were still over 1.5seconds behind the fastest time.

JPM in fourthThe track temperatures increased during the session which was to help the Michelin runners. Early in the session we would see Juan Pablo in ninth position, with Ralf eighth.

Juan Pablo would have a moment which would see him leave the track at the exit of turn eleven going straight on at turn twelve through the gravel trap. He was able to return to the pits where his car was checked. Ralf would also return to the pits.

Both drivers would have changes made to their cars. While this was happening they would drop down the order with Ralf fourteenth and Juan Pablo sixteenth. But when both drivers returned to the track, with Juan Pablo leaving first, followed by Ralf both drivers would quickly improve their times.

Juan Pablo would quickly move into fourth while Ralf would take eighth position after having to contend with heavy traffic.

Ralf struggled in the trafficEven with their improvements they still were a considerable margin behind the Ferrari drivers, who again set the fastest times. Both Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello were again able to improve their times from the third free session.

In third was McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen ahead of Juan Pablo. Next came Sauber's Felipe Massa and BAR's Olivier Panis. Panis should have been third but made a mistake in the final sector.

Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella continued to show some form after finishing seventh, followed by Ralf, Nick Heidfeld, and Jarno Trulli. McLaren's David Coulthard would improve his time from earlier this morning but he was only able to manage eleventh, ahead of Mika Salo, Pedro de la Rosa, and Toyota's Allan McNish. The Scott would spin off the track at turn eleven half-way through the session as the rear end of his Toyota suddenly snapped away on corner entry. He was able to return to the pits.

Jacques Villeneuve was back in fifteenth, ahead of Renault's Jenson Button. Jordan’s Takuma Sato was seventeenth, ahead of a struggling Eddie Irvine, and Mark Webber. Early into the session Sato would run wide at turn one and go off into the gravel as the rear end of his Jordan spun out. The final spot was again occupied by newcomer Anthony Davidson.
