Dokic romance looking shaky for Arrows No. 2

Confusion now surrounds the reported romance blossoming between Arrows’ Enrique Bernoldi and tennis star Jelena Dokic. Since the article first appeared in the The Age, there has been a furious debate amongst her fans, taking the article apart, and the evidence suggests that Enrique is still single.

The first hint of suspicion came with the news that pictures of Enrique wearing a t-shirt proclaiming his affections had been seen on the web. After an exhaustive search, message board contributor ‘Zy’ found the photo on the Sutton Images site, although ‘subh’ was quick to point out that, “It doesn’t prove anything, of course, as any number of Jelena fans might wear a t-shirt like this if they were available.”

A quick look through the message board at www.Jelena-Dokic.com revealed another chink in The Age’s story. A message board contributor there, Glyn, pulled apart the fact that Enrique and Jelena met up in Barcelona, presumably in late April during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. “The article said that the pair’s sporting paths crossed last month in Barcelona,” Glyn reports. “Perhaps someone would like to tell me when, during May, Jelena went to Barcelona for some sporting event? She was competing in Germany, Italy and France.” As the article was released in June, the reference to ‘last month’ must refer to May and there has been no reported activity from the Arrows team in May in Barcelona.

The last piece of damning evidence comes from Jay Prout, webmaster of www.Jelena-Online.com, official website of Jelena Dokic. He quotes the response to an enquiry on his message board with regard to The Age’s report. “We can only report what we are told,” Jay quoted fellow webmaster Howie as saying, “and we were told by those closest to Jelena, that she does not have a boyfriend. We can’t confirm whether that article is true or not. As you well know, about 90% of what is reported about the Dokic family is made up anyway. One thing is for sure though, if it is true, it is also a secret to those a lot closer to Jelena than we are."

In addition Jay also made enquiries to Jelena’s press contacts, suggesting that an official statement would quell the British tabloid interest on the run up to Wimbledon. "It’s ok, we don’t mind, it doesn’t matter, no statement,” was the official reply.

Who knows what is going on, but it’s a very interesting story all the same.
