Arrows cautiously optimistic for Canada

OrangeArrows talked enthusiastically about the next race in Canada in their pre-Grand Prix press release. Enrique Bernoldi is hoping that the litter louts won’t be there, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen in keen to keep the points scoring momentum going, after finishing sixth in Monaco.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen:

“Montréal is a very lively city so the race weekend always has an excellent atmosphere. The track is a part-street circuit which makes it quite exciting to drive. Last year was quite a tough weekend for me. I had an accident on the Friday which left me quite sore, so I decided it would be best for me to miss the race to rest. Nevertheless, we go to Montréal with two points now, so it is important to keep the hard work up - we need to take every opportunity we get to show the car is getting better and better.”

Enrique Bernoldi:

“I like Canada a lot. The city is great - it’s an exciting place and the track is really good to drive. It is a challenging circuit that is quite narrow with some quick corners. It also has very tight chicanes, which should give some opportunities to overtake under braking. The brakes are a big factor here as they are worked to their maximum but, nevertheless, I’m hoping we can have a good weekend. I think the last few races have really let us show our potential and it was good to get a finish in Monaco. I was enjoying the race last year, but a burger wrapper went into my radiator which caused it to overheat and that was really the end of my race. I’m quite optimistic for this year’s race though, and am looking forward to the weekend."

Graham Taylor, OrangeArrows’ Chief Race Engineer:

“Montréal is a medium downforce track that is very hard on the brakes and the engine. They could well be the biggest influences on the car over the weekend, but we have shown very good reliability in the past few races and we hope it won’t be a problem. As it’s a part-street circuit, the surface is quite bumpy, but that really just adds an extra challenge on what is quite a technical track. Obviously with our second point in the bag in Monaco, our aim is to score more. You cannot stand still in Formula One and constant momentum and progression is key. We hope for a good weekend.”
