Drivers say that Arrows are important to F1

According to DailyF1News.com, the Arrows F1 Team were missed by the rest of the grid in the Hungarian paddock last weekend, although there was a general acceptance that things like this can happen in F1.

There were two drivers prepared to voice their views on the current crisis at Leafield, and both in their own way support the team for trying to fight on to race another day.

Hungarian GP winner, Rubens Barrichello, believes that a full grid is required because it adds so much to the public spectacle, and helps to make Formula One the success that it is today.

“I think it is bad not to have Arrows here, because Formula One is something that we all want to be winners,” Rubens was quoted as saying from the Hungarian paddock after his win on Sunday.

“But at the end of the day my memory goes back to when I was a go-karter, and I went to Río to see the race there, and there were 36 cars there trying to pre-qualify and then go to qualifying. I guess that was a lot better for the public, a lot better for Formula One and it was a lot more interesting, so it is sad to see only 20 cars running right now.”

Third placed Ralf Schumacher was a bit more philosophical, but appeared confident that a deal to save the team would be agreed in time, and agreed with Barrichello that a full racing grid is important to the sport.

“Well, basically every team is important to Formula One, but the sport is all about changes. I am sure someone will take over and the situation will be similar next year, but as I said every single car is important to what we are doing, even if they can’t win.”
