VIDEO: Webber Drives Red Bull F1 Car Across Bolte Bridge

Australian driver Mark Webber gave Melbourne some high-octane action today, when he drove a Red Bull Racing F1 car across the city's iconic Bolte Bridge in the lead up to the 2011 Formula One Australian Grand Prix.
Hundreds of spectators gathered at Docklands Waterfront in the city to view the action live via big-screen TVs. Following his bridge crossing, Mark delighted crowds by stopping at the Docklands Waterfront where he was able to meet some of his supporters, complete interviews and do signing for fans.

So, what's the story here: Is there something special/historically significant about this bridge? 
I can understand a 'demo' run through city streets where folks can watch from 2nd/3rd/4th/+ story windows, but across a bridge where you can only watch a jumbotron video feed?

Bolte bridge is only fairly recent, but it was the same story with Mark's Williams drive across Sydney Harbour Bridge a few years ago - bridge closed when he did it so you could only hear and smell it from a distance and watch the big screen. All good fun and good PR though and he mixed with the crowd afterwards.
