Round 3: Bahrain GP: FP,QWF,RACE thread
By De Jokke
March 31 2014
With the first merc double of the season, Toto Wolff and his team are travelling in good spirits to Bahrain. They'll try their utmost to double the double. Yet the desert may spring a couple of suprises as sand, heat and a sweeping circuit are all elements to be dealt with.
Lewis Hamilton's season has only started just now in Sepang with a dominant victory. Just as Sebastian Vettel's, who also took his first points with a strong podium finish.
Fernando Alonso is keeping his WDC hopes alive with two strong 4th places while Kimi Raikkonen will be praying for a troublefree race in Bahrain.
The odds are that Mercedes will get another win, but lots of things can happen. Most teams still have to prove their reliability and fuel consumption might become an issue for some teams in the desert.
Can Lewis make it a back-to back victory in Bahrain next weekend?
Williams will be looking forward to Bahrain with no penalties, aero updates and dry weather, so that they can finally demonstrate where they are in the pecking order.
Mclaren will probably have another damage limitation race as the MP4-29 doesn't like the heat.
Lotus will be aiming to finish with two cars as Sauber will be aiming to just finish.
Let's see if Lewis can tick another "not won yet"-circuit of his list or will Nico be the faster merc driver of the weekend... Ladies and gentlemen, here's round 3!

The new spec will have a longer life compared to the current version they're running.
(Renault already have an updated PU as of this race, which is why Vettel et al had a PU change).

Let's hope they can bag that 2nd double.
2nd spot still RBR I'm afraid, although Hulkenberg's race pace was strong apparently. Williams and Fer follow closely.

Lewis seemed a bit lost in QWF part 2&3:

Ah well, you can't always get it right. This will keep him on his toes. I hope he can beat Nico in the race but I'm afraid it'll stay like this. The start will be crucial, but with Nico on the clean side, Lewis can count himself already lucky if he doesn't lose a place at the start to a Williams. Let's hope for an entertaining GP. Let the best man win!
ps: love the alonso & vettel positions!
