McLaren To Supply 2008 ECU'S.

It has been announced today that McLaren Electronic Systems allong with computer software giant Microsoft, the McLaren-Microsoft ECU'S will controll all 2008 F1 engines. Not all teams are happy about the new McLaren-Microsoft ECU, teams that are known to oppose the new ECU are the four major engine manafactures which include Honda, Ferrari, Renault and BMW.

MES (McLaren Electronic Systems) are independent from McLaren's formula one team, but are still part of the McLaren group, and is housed, along with the McLaren F1 team, in the MTC (McLaren Technology Centre).

McLaren's industrial espionage case is causing rival teams concern about the security of their cars data and technical information, not to mention throttle and engine control problems.

Team boss of Reanalt, Flavio Briatore has been reported to be exploring possible legal options, in aid of possibly posponing or completly abolishing the Microsoft McLaren ECU.

"How am I to trust a company that is at the centre of a spying scandal?" Flavio told Auto Motor and Sport, BMW team manager Mario Thissen also shows his concerns about the new ECU."I have to say that (when we tested the ECU) some serious situations arose."
 

Dispite these aligations, the FIA are staying firm with their choice of ECU manufactuer.
