Ferrari looks the team to beat

Voices directly from the horse's mouth, as they say, are that, the Ferrari seems to be quickest, stable and team to beat this Season.

The Ferrari challenger F10 has topped the timings at the team's initial test running and Valencia. This followed by a series of long runs, that the team undertook at the 8-day testing that just culminated at the Jerez track.

The F10 was rock solid in these long runs, with consistent quick pace.

Jenson Button of McLaren, while following the red car during Jerez testing, made the following observations.

He said the car was very consistent compared to others and good on pace too. He found that the Mercedes car was a bit struggling on balance and while braking. Though he was positive about the McLaren car, he said there are still areas to be improved upon.

His opinion on F10 was also backed up by others like Vettel, who speaking to Austria's Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper, stated "Ferrari has looked pretty strong".

Spanish and Torro Rosso driver Jamie Algueisari, speaking to AS newspaper, also voted for F10 amongst the best of the lot.

Ferrari's current driver, and two time world champion, Fernando Alonso, made a strong statement at the end of the Jerez testing that F10 was the best car he has ever had.

Report from the ITV, UK website, after the first 4 days of testing was positive for the Red team. The website observed that the F10's speed on heavy fuel was ominous for its rivals, with one of Alonso's 50-lap stint being both extremely rapid and unnervingly consistent.

One thing however still uncertain is the fuel consumption and tyre wear of the F10. With refuelling ban in place for the season, both these aspects are of immense importance to all teams.

If these two areas are well-managed by the Ferrari team, there is no doubt that the F10 will be topping the racing charts for the season.

The upcoming final testing at Barcelona from Feb. 25-28 would be interesting and would further throw a clear picture in to all these observations
