"Reasonably good day" in "quite competitive" cars

As usual Friday Practice took place on Thursday in Monaco with Force India looking, in the words of Mike Gascoyne, "quite competitive". FP1 saw Fisi faster than a whole host of cars setting the 10th fastest time. Adrian fared slightly less well in 17th, faster than Piquet and Vettel whilst Coulthard set no time.

Adrian complained of understeer problems, "we have a few problems with the understeer on the car again and the same procedure with the tyres as in all the previous events - it is very difficult to get the tyres to work well."

The second session saw the Force guys produce slightly less encouraging times, with Fisi 16th and Sutil down in 19th. However, there are reasons for this, as Mike Gascoyne explains, "Giancarlo had a hydraulic problem that meant he couldn't run at the end and Adrian was on a much quicker lap but unfortunately just clipped the barrier at the last corner. These things can happen though, especially in Monaco."

Rain is predicted in the Principality at some point on both Saturday and Sunday, as Giancarlo alludes to, "We're working well around the track but we will have to see what happens over the weekend as the weather could change and the track conditions too."

Let's leave the last word to Sutil, "I think though with a bit of work we can be quite competitive over the weekend."

Sounds good.

Adrian Sutil (car 20, VJM01/02):
FP1: 17th 1:18.360  (25 laps)
FP2: 19th 1:18.176  (31 laps)

Giancarlo Fisichella (car 21, VJM01/04):
FP1: 10th  1:17.835  (26 laps)
FP2: 16th 1:17.251  (33 laps)
