Ferrari are not the fastest team during testing this week at the Paul Ricard HTTT in France, though Felipe Massa is closing in on the dominant Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren. For the first time in 2007, Ferrari is not in complete control of testing which unfortunately comes at a very important time in the World Championship.

The Formula 1 teams are testing at Paul Ricard HTTT this week in France, preparing for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix. The reason for testing at this track in particular, is its ability to be modified in to a track which will closely resemble the characteristics of the street circuit in Monte Carlo.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has been in control of the first two days of testing, which is most positive for the Woking team's Monaco chances. Unfortunately, some are suspecting that Ferrari will suffer in Monte Carlo, due to the F2007's longer wheel base. This results in a longer turning radius for the car and increased difficulties on circuits with tight and numerous corners, for instance Monaco.

Felipe Massa started off the test, placing sixth on the day. Massa ran 94 laps of the French circuit, setting a time of 1'07.271. The next day was far more encouraging for the Scuderia, with Massa placing second only behind Hamilton. The Brazilian set a time of 1'05.755, while completing 107 laps.

Testing continues here tomorrow with Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel of the F2007.
