Donington ready for facelift

Finances have been secured for renovation work at the classic Donington Circuit. Those responsible for the circuit have been granted 100 million pounds from the government to prepare the track for its comeback in the 2010 Formula One season.

North West Leicestershire council recently granted the necessary funds, with the investment to be used to improve the circuit itself, the drivers' paddock, and the media centre.

Midway through last year Bernie Ecclestone announced that Donington Park would replace Silverstone on the race calendar from 2010. Silverstone was the venue of the very first Formula One race in history in 1950, while Donington Park has only hosted motorsport's elite class on one occasion, back in 1993.
