One thing about the penalty on Seb I have read many times when the penalty is not liked by the press and fans alike is the rules for the penalty are set with no leeway the teams and drivers wanted consistence rules and are set out by the FIA not the stewards the stewards gave Seb the bare minimum because it should have been as divined in the rules 5 secs added at the end plus a ten second drive through

I actually think 5 secs penalties are a joke and should only be for minor offences that barely gave any advantage and didn't influence other drivers like maybe crossing the white line at the pit exit when no other cars were around or exceeding allowed pit lane speed by like 0.5 km/h.

Everything that involves other cars should be a drive-through minimum. I'm sick of drivers breaking rules while fighting other cars and only getting 5 secs penalties. That makes it worth to break the rules usually because your race situation can get a lot better with illegal overtake/defence but 5 secs penalty rarely costs you more than one place in the end and often you're better with doing the illegal move AND getting the penalty than sticking to rules, which is unnacceptable for me as a penalty should always be severe enough to deter you from breaking the rules and that doesn't work with just 5 secs penalties.

About Vettel's penalty, I think it's 50-50. I didn't feel it especially unjust that he got it but wouldn't feel either if he somehow got away with it (but only if telemetry proved he wasn't in control of his car). If he had at least got a DT instead of 5 secs there, he wouldn't have crossed the finish line 1st and that would have saved F1 a lot of bad taste, I think.
